Guwahati, Jan 28 (IBNS) :A special CBI court in Guwahati on Monday convicted National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) chief Ranjan Daimary and 14 others in connection with the 2008 Assam serial blast case, which had left at least 88 people dead and 400 injured, media reports said.

According to Assam Tribune, after taking over the investigation from Assam Police, the CBI had filed two charge sheets naming at least 22 accused. The first charge sheet was filed in 2009 and the second one was filed in 2010.

To accelerate the trial in the case, the state government had approved the recommendation of the Guwahati High Court to set up a fast-track case in 2017, reported The Times of India.
