Kolkata, Apr 20 (IBNS): A speeding truck crashed into an autorickshaw, full of school students, in West Bengal's West Medinipur district on Thursday morning, killing at least two pupils and leaving 11 others injured, reports said.

According to reports, a Midnapore city bound truck suddenly lost its control and collided head on with an autorickshaw on NH-60 at Vadutala area under Salboni Police Station limits in West Medinipur district at around 10:30 am.

All 13 passengers of the auto, including 11 students and its driver, were seriously injured in the mishap and were rushed to Midnapore Medical College and Hospital, where two of them were declared dead.

When police went to the scene, locals attacked policemen and vandalized police vehicles.

At least four cops, including the Inspector-in-Charge of Salboni Police Station- Biswajit Saha, were hurt after being beaten by the angry mob and were taken to Midnapore Medical College and Hospital.

Later, a heavy police force along with Rapid Action Force (RAF) rushed to the spot and policemen restored to lathicharge to bring the situation under control.
