1 killed in Bangalore blast

Bangalore, Dec 28 (IBNS): At least one person has died in a low intensity blast which occurred outside a restaurant at Bangalore city in Karnataka on Sunday.

The deceased woman was identified as Bhavani. She succumbed to her injury while undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Her relative Karthik, who was also injured in the blast, is out of danger.

"Karthik is out of danger," Bangalore Police Commissioner M N Reddi told reporters.

Bhavani was from Tamil Nadu city, the police had earlier said.

Karnataka Chief Minister S Siddaramaiah tweeted: "Extremely saddened that the #BangaloreBlast has claimed an innocent victim. I am rushing back from Mysuru to review the situation."

According to reports, the blast occurred from an Improvised Explosive Device.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh earlier said he has spoken to the Karnataka CM and assured him that the Centre is ready to 'provide all help' on the issue.

Singh tweeted: "Spoke to Karnataka CM Shri S Siddaramaiah regarding the Bangalore blasts. He apprised me of the situation. Centre ready to provide all help."

Former Karnataka Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda visited the site of the blast.

Ahead of his visit, he tweeted: "Very unfortunate incident. Visiting church street bomb blast site now. I request fellow Bengalurian's not to Panic. We r with u."

The bomb squad and a forensics team have rushed to the spot of the blast.
