Bangladesh government approves export of 3,000 tonnes of hilsa fish to India for upcoming Durga Puja

The Bangladeshi government has approved the export of 3,000 tonnes of hilsa fish to India on the occasion of Durga Puja.

The applicants have been advised to contact the relevant wing of the ministry to obtain export permissions, the commerce ministry was quoted as saying in a statement by The Daily Star.

The interim government in Bangladesh, which was formed following the fall of ex-PM Sheikh Hasina's regime amid massive violent protests, had earlier decided not to export hilsa fish to India to boost domestic supply.
