A man allegedly killed her wife for not giving him a TVS Apache bike and Rs. 3 lakh in dowry in Uttar Pradesh's Amroha region.

The suspect was identified as Sundar.

The couple was married two years ago and he had been demanding a dowry since then.

The deceased reportedly informed her father that Sundar harassed her over the dowry issue.

Meena has been staying at her father's house in Soharka since Rakshabandhan. Sundar used to visit her every day and even have meals with her in-laws, a family member told NDTV.

According to reports, he visited her in-laws house on Sunday and brought his wife home.

After confronting her over dowry, she beat her up with sticks and strangled her.

The accused fled the spot after strangling her to death.

Local authorities alerted the police over the incident.

The deceased woman's family later filed a complaint with the police against the husband, his mother, sister, and four others.

The woman's body has been sent for postmortem.
