Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Sunday met US Secretary of State Antony Blinken when they discussed regional and global issues.

Jaishankar posted on X: "Great to catch up with @SecBlinken in Tokyotoday."He said: "Our bilateral agenda progresses steadily. Also had a wide-ranging discussion on regional and global issues."

The Indian leader further said: "Look forward to attending the Quad FMM tomorrow."

Jaishankar and Blinken are currently visiting Japan to attend the Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting which will be held on July 29.

"The Ministers will take forward discussions held during the last meeting in New York in September 2023 and exchange views on developments in the Indo-Pacific region, and review progress on Quad initiatives and working groups," read a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs.

The Ministers would discuss regional and international issues, and guide future collaboration to achieve the shared vision of a free and open Indo-Pacific region by addressing contemporary priorities of the region through delivery of public goods.

This was the first meeting between Jaishankar and Blinken since the Indian politician and former diplomat was re-appointed as Minister of External Affairs.
