Shooter involved in killing Nanakmatta Gurudwara dera chief dies in police encounter

Dehradun/UNI: Amarjeet Singh, alias Bittu, who shot dead Baba Tarsem Singh, the Karseva head of Nanakmatta Gurudwara in Uttarakhand's Udham Singh Nagar district, was killed by a team of Special Task Force and Haridwar police in an encounter on Tuesday, officials said.

Bittu's other accomplice is still absconding, the police said.

Police Headquarters spokesperson, Inspector General of Police Modernization (PM) Nilesh Anand Bharne, told UNI that Amarjeet Singh, who carried a bounty of Rs 1 lakh, was killed in a police encounter under the Bhagwanpur police station area in Haridwar district early Tuesday.

Bharne said Bittu's companion managed to escape, adding that further details on the matter will be made available at 2 pm.

On the morning of March 28, Dera Kar Seva chief Baba Tarsem Singh was shot dead by two shooters riding a bike in Nanakmatta.

The STF and police are searching for the other murderer.
