Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to address 30 public meetings for first phase of polling

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will attend 30 public meetings in 15 days beginning from April 1 to 15 for the first phase of polling in the state.

According to the schedule, the Chief Minister in addition to 30 public meetings, will also accompany party candidates during the filing of nomination papers in Diphu on April 2 and in Silchar and Karimganj on April 3 .

Party sources said on April 1, he will take part in a cycle rally in Majuli. Similarly, on April 2, he will address a public meeting at Sarupathar.

The Chief Minister will be present during the filing of nomination papers of party candidates in Silchar and Karimganj on April 3.

He will address three public meetings in Dhekiajuli, Gahpur, and Bihpuriy on Apri 4, and three election meetings in Digboi and Makum on April 5, and three
public meetings at Titabor, Mariani, and Nazira on April 7.

He is also scheduled to address three public meetings in Naharkatia, Duliajan, and Chabua on April 8, three meetings at Khowang and Dhakuakhana on Aril 9. and address election rallies at Mahamra, Amguri, and Teok on April 10. On April 11, he will address three meetings in Margherita, Dergaon, and Bokakhat.

Similarly, on April 12, the Chief Minister will attend three election rallies at Lumding, Biswanath Chariali, and Naoboicha and three public meetings at Ranganadi, Rangapara, and Sonari on April 13.

The first phase of polling will be held on April 19 in five constituencies - Kaziranga, Sonitpur, Lakhimpur, Dibrugarh, and Jorhat. The application and verification process has already begun. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is March 30. A total of 36 candidates are in the fray for the five seats. There are 11 candidates in Kaziranga, 8 in Sonitpur, 9 in Lakhimpur, 3 in Dibrugarh, and 5 in Jorhat.
