Kolkata/IBNS Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in this city on Tuesday evening to unveil some Kolkata Metro Railway projects and later is scheduled to address an open rally at Barasat in North 24 Parganas on Wednesday, official sources said.

After landing at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport (Dum Dum), the PM was taken to Raj Bhawan by car and will stay there tonight.

PM Modi also went to Sishumangal Hospital and enquired about the health of the President of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Srimat Swami Smaranananda ji Maharaj.

The PM will hold an official function in the city to inaugurate several central government projects, including that of the Kolkata Metro Railway.

Kolkata Metro sources said the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Howrah Maidan-Esplanade section and the Kavi Subhas-Hemanta Mukhopadhyay and the Taratala-Majerhat stations.

He will also address a BJP rally in Barasat, to be attended mostly by women including those from Sandeshkhali, who were allegedly tortured by some TMC leaders in North 24 Parganas, reports said.

Last week during his visit to Bengal, PM Modi stayed a night at Raj Bhawan and unveiled development projects worth Rs 22,500 crore and addressed two BJP rallies at Arambagh in Hooghly district and Krishnanagar in Nadia district on Mach 2 and 3 respectively.
