New Delhi: Malayalam actress Lena Thursday said that she has married Group Captain Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair, a Gaganyaan pilot. The news came shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the names of the four Indian Air Force pilots selected for India's inaugural human space travel mission, Gaganyaan.

Taking to Instagram, Lena explained that she had to withhold the news of her marriage to Nair until the legally required period of anonymity had passed.

Lena confirmed that she tied the knot with Group Captain Nair on January 17. This is her second marriage.

Sharing a video with glimpses from the event attended by PM Modi and their wedding, she wrote, "Today, on February 27, 2024, our Prime Minister, Modi ji, presented the first Indian astronaut wings to Indian Air Force fighter pilot and Group Captain Prashant Balakrishnan Nair. This is a historical moment of pride for our country, Kerala, and for me. To keep the secrecy officially demanded, I have been waiting for this announcement to inform you that I have married Prashant on January 17, 2024, in a traditional ceremony."

In the collage, the newly married couple can be seen adorned with garlands, posing with their families in traditional attire.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Modi released the identities of the four astronaut candidates selected to undergo training for India's inaugural human spaceflight mission.

In addition to Group Captain Prashanth Nair, the other chosen Indian Air Force pilots include Group Captain Ajit Krishnan, Group Captain Angad Pratap, and Wing Commander Shubhanshu Shukla.

These four astronauts received training at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in Russia.

During his visit to Kerala, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inspected the advancement of the Gaganyaan mission and presented Astronaut Wings to the four candidates at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre.

The Gaganyaan mission will mark India's first human spaceflight program, and significant preparations are ongoing at various ISRO facilities in preparation for it.
