An undertrial prisoner, who had been brought to Pandori Rukman village by the police to participate in the 'Antim Ardas' of his father managed to escape from the policy custody on Friday.

According to police, the prisoner Munish Kumar, who was lodged in Central Jail here, was brought to the village on the Order of the Court.

The police party, consisting of ASI (LR) Jaswinder Singh and Senior Constable Varinder, who were accompanying Munish Kumar, released his handcuffs based on the assurance of his brother-in-law, Paramjit Singh.

Paramjit Singh, serving as ASI in Police Recruit Training Centre, Jahan Khelan, assured the officers that Munish Kumar would not attempt to flee.

However, after spending some time with his relatives, Munish managed to evade the police and escaped.

In response to the incident, ASI (LR) Jaswinder Singh and Senior Constable Varinder, along with ASI Paramjit Singh, have been arrested by Bullowal police.

The police are actively conducting a search operation to nab Munish Kumar.
