New Delhi/IBNS/UNI: The Aam Aadmi Party Thursday lodged a complaint with the Election Commission of India against the Bharatiya Janata Party for alleged violation of the Electoral laws, Representation of Peoples Act, 1951 and Model Code of Conduct.

As per complaint to EC, the AAP accuses BJP of posting many “frivolous” posts based on morphed images and videos on their official social media platforms to ruin the “clean” and “undisputed” image of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal who is also the star campaigner for the party in states like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Mizoram where elections are ongoing.

In the complaint, AAP claimed that BJP has time and again “morphed” the images of Kejriwal and other AAP members and has portrayed them in a poor light to create confusion and hatred among the people.

Criticising the BJP, AAP mentioned in the complaint that the saffron party misuses social media. “The misuse of social media is evident. Misleading videos along with visuals have been posted with the sole objective of tarnishing the clean and spotless image of CM Arvind Kejriwal,” the complaint letter read.

AAP Leader and MP Raghav Chadha accused the BJP of running a campaign on social media to “malign” Kejriwal's image.

"The AAP also posted content in response to the content shared by the BJP on social media. While the AAP received a notice from the Election Commission regarding this, the BJP did not," Chadha claimed.
