Burdwan blast: Wahab Momin sent to NIA custody

Kolkata, Mar 22 (IBNS) A local court here on Sunday sent Wahab Momin, who was arrested in connection with the Burdwan blast case, to NIA custody till Mar 31.

Momin was arrested by the NIA on Saturday. He was produced  in the court on Sunday.

"Wahab Momin (34 yrs) is a trained member of Jamat-Ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and he was closely associated with the activities of JMB by providing shelter to the JMB Cadres from Bangladesh including Tarikul Islam and Nasirullah who are absconding since the blast on 2nd October, 2014.He was also involved in organising meetings of JMB cadres at his residence as well as recruitment of  youths into JMB, as per statement of witnesses. He had been  absconding since the blast," the NIA said in a statement  on Saturday.

The NIA said 18 people have been arrested in connection with the case that had rocked West Bengal last year to 18.

The NIA said: "He shall be produced in NIA SpecialCourt at Kolkata tomorrow and NIA shall seek police remand for further examination of the arrested person."

On Oct 2, a terror module got busted in Khagragarh in West Bengal's Burdwan district after an inadvertent explosion took place when suspected Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) terrorists were making Improvised Explosive Device (IED), thus killing 2 of them.
