Kashmir: Police arrest four drug smugglers in Baramulla

Srinagar/UNI: Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested four drug smugglers and recovered contraband substances from them in Jammu Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Police said three drug peddlers identified as Shafeeq Ahmad Naikoo, Yasir Ahmad Lone and Fayaz Ahmad Wani residents of Dangerpora Sheeri were nabbed during checking at Dangerpora Market.

The trio were coming on a Motorcycle from Dangerpora towards Mallora and upon seeing the checking party they tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully.

During the search 170 grams of contraband Charas-like substances were recovered from them and were taken into custody immediately. The Motorcycle was also seized, police said.

Another drug smuggler identified as Bilal Ahmad Shah a resident of Kalsari Pattan was arrested during checking at Nehalpora Cheksari Pattan. The accused was coming from Checksari towards Pattan and upon seeing the police party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully.

During the search 70 grams of contraband Cannabis Powder and 5 Kgs of Poppy Straw like substances was recovered from him and was taken into custody, they said.

Cases under Narcotic Drugs and Phototrophic Substances (NDPS) Act registered in concerned police stations and investigations set in motion, police added.
