Maharashtra: Chandrapur Congress MP Balu Dhanorkar dies

Delhi/Nagpur/UNI: Suresh alias Balu Dhanorkar, the lone MP of Congress in Maharashtra, has passed away in Delhi.

He was 47, a party spokesperson told UNI.

Dhanorkar, the parliamentarian from Chandrapur, underwent treatment for kidney stones at a hospital in Nagpur.

However, due to complications, he was airlifted to Medanta Hospital in New Delhi for treatment on Sunday.

He breathed his last at 3:30 on Tuesday morning at Medanta Hospital during treatment .

Dhanorkar’s mortal remains will be brought to his home in Warora at 2 pm. The last rites will be performed at Vani bypass Crematorium in Warora at 4 pm.

Dhanorkar was born on 4 June 1975 in Yavatmal district. He started his political career in the Balasaheb Thackeray-led Shiv Sena in Chandrapur district and won the assembly election in 2014.

He was keen on contesting the Lok Sabha election from Chandrapur, which was traditionally contested by the BJP's Hansraj Ahir.

Dhanorkar joined the Congress and defeated Hansraj Ahir.

He was the only Congress MP from Maharashtra.

Earlier, Balu Dhanorkar’s father Narayan Dhanorkar(80)passed away in Nagpur on Saturday evening after prolonged illness.

Dhanorkar is survived by wife Pratibha, an MLA and two sons.
