Guwahati/UNI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Assam on Thursday for a day-long visit to the state.

During his visit, he will attend a programme at the Veterinary College Field in Guwahati's Khanapara area, where a total of 44,703 appointment letters will be distributed to recently recruited youths in various government departments.

This event marks the largest-ever job distribution in Assam, with a total of 41,920 jobs already provided and recruitment for an additional 22,776 posts soon to commence.

The successful candidates will be able to assume their positions between June 1st and June 15, 2023.

To ensure flexibility in department placements based on governance needs, the Assam government plans to introduce an ordinance.

In addition to the job distribution programme, Shah will lay the foundation of the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) in Kamrup district's Changsari.

This university, the ninth of its kind in India, will offer forensic training to scientists from South East Asia, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Nepal. NFSU Guwahati will provide degree courses in various forensic subjects at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Preparations are underway to welcome the Union Home Minister, and elaborate security arrangements have been put in place in Guwahati to ensure foolproof security.

In light of the visit, the Kamrup (Metropolitan) district administration has declared the entire district, including Guwahati city, as a "No Drone Fly Zone" from May 24 to May 25, 2023.
