Punjab police say four members of Lawrence Bishnoi gang arrested

Chandigarh: Four shooters of Lawrence Bishnoi gang were arrested by AGTF, Punjab police said on Monday.

DGP Gaurav Yadav said in a tweet that the police have recovered six pistols and 26 live cartridges from the accused.

Police said the arrested accused have a criminal history with a number of criminal cases, including attempt to murder, car-jacking, extortion, Arms Act etc , registered against them in Punjab and Haryana.

Those arrested have been identified as Mehfooz alias Vishal Khan, Manjeet Singh alias Guri, Ankit and Goldy.

Yadav said the arrested shooters were tasked by Bishnoi to harm/attack their rival gang members.

ADGP Promod Ban said the accused Mehfooz alias Vishal was wanted in a case pertaining to recovery of six pistols, wherein his aide identified as Nitish Rana was arrested by the Dhakoli Police, while he managed to escape from the spot. He was also involved in a firing incident that took place at the premises of Pub & Restaurant, Brew Bros in Mohali in March 2022, on the directions of Bishnoi to extort money.

A FIR has been registered against the accused under section 384 and 120-B of IPC and section 25 of Arms Act and further investigation is on, said ADGP.
