Chennai: In a suspected case of honour killing, a newly wed man was murdered by his father-in-law and he fell in love with his daughter and married her a few days back in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu.

Police said the deceased C.Jagan (26), was riding on his 2-wheeler near the Dam road close to the Bengaluru-Krishnagiri National highway when he was waylaid and killed by a three-member gang.

Jagan of Kittampatti village in Krishnagiri, fell in love with his relative S.Saranya (21), of Avathanapatti village.

Though both of them belonged to the same caste, the girl's parents objected to their affair.

Despite the objections, they got married recently, which was unaccepted by Saranya’s father C.Sankar (45).

Enraged over this, Sankar and two others intercepted Jagan and attacked him with a knife, killing him on the spot.

Later, Sankar surrendered before the Krishnagiri District Additional Mahila Court and remanded in judicial custody.

Special teams were formed to nab the remaining accused, police said.
