New Delhi: Days after Nikki Yadav’s alleged murder, Delhi Police arrested five co-accused including main accused Sahil Gehlot’s father on charges of helping his son in the conspiracy, police said on Saturday.

“All five co-accused including Sahil’s father, two cousins Ashish and Naveen and two friends Amar and Lokesh were thoroughly interrogated and arrested after verifying and ascertaining their role,” Special CP (Crime) Ravindra Yadav said.

Police said that Sahil’s cousin Naveen is a Constable in Delhi Police.

“The main accused Sahil Gahlot was interrogated at length during the police custody remand. During sustained interrogation, he told police that the deceased was asking him not to marry another girl because both (Sahil and deceased) had already solemnised their marriage in the year 2020,” Yadav said.

Nikki pleaded with him not to go ahead with the marriage fixed by his family on February 10, thereafter, the accused persons had allegedly hatched the conspiracy and planned to remove the deceased from their way, police said.

“Accordingly, Sahil executed the plan and murdered her and informed the co-accused persons about it on the same day and then all of them went ahead with the marriage ceremony," Yadav said.
