Shamli (UP)/UNI: Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said the opposition is not allowed to speak in the Parliament, therefore, he decided to reach the public and raise their issues between them.

The 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' entered the Shamli district after completing the Baghpat leg in the morning.

After covering Ailum, Unchagaon and Shamli it entered Haryana on the third day.

The yatra received an impressive response from the public as people from all walks of life participated in it.

During the yatra, Rahul raised the issues of unemployment for youth, inflation, non-payment of dues of cane farmers and the government not taking care of farmers, who died during the stir against three farm laws.

He said demonetisation and GST broke the backbone of the business and businessmen.

He alleged that the youths have been cheated in the name of the Agniveer scheme.

Rahul said the strength of the opposition rests on the strength of Congress.

He said the manner in which the yatra has received support in western Uttar Pradesh gives hope that the public wants a change in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Former Union Minister and Rajya Sabha MP Jairam Ramesh said there is a need to save the country from the ideology of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He said inflation and unemployment are the major issues.

He said while the government is waiving off crores of rupees loans to the billionaires, it is not thinking anything about the farmers.
