Two NAP jawans killed by colleague in Nagaland

Kohima/UNI: Two personnel of the Nagaland Armed Police (NAP) were shot and killed by another jawan at Lamhainamdi village under Peren district of Nagaland on the night of November 22.

According to official sources on Thursday, the deceased were identified as Kevisekho Khate (34) of ‘A’ Company in 10 NAP (Indian Reserve Battalion), T Zewangba Yim (35) of ‘A’ Company in 10 NAP (IRB) and the accused was one Zenise Yhoshu of MT Platoon of NAP Rangers of Special Task Force.

The incident occurred at around 8 pm on the night of Tuesday when the accused fired 13 rounds from an INSAS rifle.

The accused was arrested and taken into police custody and an FIR has been lodged at Jalukie Police Station under Peren district.

An investigation is going on, but the motive or cause of the incident could not be ascertained, sources said.

Sources said that in the medical examination conducted at the Community Health Center at Jalukie, where the accused was found to be under the influence of alcohol.

A magisterial inquest was conducted in the presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner of Jalukie, the bodies were referred to District Hospital Dimapur for conducting post-mortem.
