Jammu and Kashmir: BSF holds cycle rally on 'National Unity Day' in Srinagar

Srinagar: To celebrate the “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas" (National Unity Day), Border Security Force men on Saturday rode cycles in Srinagar city holding tricolour.

The cycle rally was organised by BSF on the occasion of the 147th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Raja Babu Singh, Inspector General, BSF Kashmir graced the occasion as chief guest and he led the cycle rally which was flagged off from BSF Campus, Humhama.

The rally moved through Hyderpora Chowk , Barzulla Chowk, Bakshi Stadium, Gupkar Road, Dal Lake and culminated at Botanical Garden on the banks of Dal lake.

In the air filled with patriotic scores, the cycles hoisting the Tricolours were welcomed by the locals at different places in Srinagar with a lot of enthusiasm and exhibited a great sense of patriotism & national integration, a statement by the BSF said.

On the occasion, IG BSF said Kashmir is safe and countrymen should visit the valley.

“People should come and increase tourism. This beautiful valley needs to be visited. From the last three years Kashmir is on the road to development,” he said.

He further emphasized on the role and commitment of BSF in thwarting any ill designs of the enemy to disrupt the national harmony and peace.

The rally culminated with mesmerising performance by BSF brass band.
