Telangana: BJP moves HC seeking CBI probe into TRS MLAS’ poaching case

Hyderabad/UNI: A day after Telangana Police claimed that they caught three people associated with Bharatiya Janata Party while they are trying to bribe four key Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLAs to defeat the saffron party, Telangana BJP on Thursday approached the High Court seeking to transfer the case pertaining to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

In his writ petition, state BJP General Secretary Gujjula Premender Reddy said to conduct a free and fair enquiry into the case and safeguard the interest of justice, seeking a special investigation team probe into the case, registered at Moinabad police station.

Based on a complaint by TRS MLA Rohit Reddy over attempting to poach the TRS MLAs allegedly belonged to the BJP, Cyberabad police have arrested three persons who were found at the farmhouse at Aziz Nagar (Ranga Reddy), outskirts of the city on Wednesday evening by registering an FIR against – Nanda Kumar of Hyderabad, Ramachandra Bharati alias Satish Sharma of Delhi and Simhayaji Swamy of Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh).

In the FIR, Rohit alleged that the three members belonging to BJP had met him and offered him Rs 100 crore to join the BJP and also offered contracts.

The TRS MLA also alleged that they were threatened that criminal cases will be foisted against him and raids by the ED and the CBI if they did not join the BJP.

The police have been slapped with charges under section 120 B (criminal conspiracy), 171-B(Bribery) read with 171-E (punishment of bribery); 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) read with 34 (acts done by several people in furtherance of common intention) of IPC and section 8 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

In a statement, BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh, who is also in charge of party's Telangana unit, has taken a strong exception to the reported incident alleging that BJP has attempted to woo four TRS MLAs at a farm house in Moinabad, Hyderabad.

He said that TRS was planting cock and bull stories to malign the BJP and divert the attention of people from the core issues which are going to determine the result of the Munugode by-election.

He said the entire episode which has been stage-managed by the Chief Minister is symptomatic of his utter frustration.

Demanding an inquiry by the Election Commission in the entire episode, Chugh said the complicity of the state police in the conspiracy needed to be exposed.

"It is evident from the sequence of events that the whole event is masterminded by the ruling party to influence the ensuing Munugodu election scheduled to be held on November 3," he added.
