Bhubaneswar: A team of doctors from AIIMS Bhubaneswar, who examined arrested West Bengal Minister Partha Chatterjee on Monday, found no serious diseases and advised him to get discharged.

Chatterjee was flown to Bhubaneswar from Kolkata in an Air Ambulance on Monday and admitted in the I-10 cabin of a private ward of the AIIMS, Bhubaneswar.

The Calcutta High Court had permitted ED to take Partha Chatterjee to Bhubaneswar by air ambulance to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar on Monday for health check-up.

According to AIIMS Executive Director Dr Asutosh Biswas, the West Bengal Minister had no serious diseases and he has been advised to get discharged from the hospital.

AIIMS sources here told UNI the Minister had arrived at around 1040 hours on Monday from Kolkata by an air ambulance.

Specialists from Cardiology, Medicines, Pulmonary and other fields have examined the health condition of Partha Chatterjee.

AIIMS sources said ECG, Ultrasound and some blood tests were conducted as per the advice of the treating doctors and no such serious ailments were found in the tests and other diagnoses except some chronic ailments he had.

Chatterjee was sent to Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody for two days on Saturday by the Kolkata court after his arrest in connection with the School Service Commission (SSC) recruitment scam.

After ED remand, Chatterjee complained of indisposition and was admitted to the Intensive Coronary Care Unit (ICCU) of the state-run SSKM Hospital as per a court’s directive.

The ED had approached the Calcutta High Court to shift Chatterjee to some other hospital other than the state-run hospital and the court permitted ED to take him to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar.
