Failed to contact Mamata Banerjee: Partha Chatterjee after ED arrest

| @indiablooms | Jul 23, 2022, at 08:27 pm

Kolkata/IBNS: West Bengal Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) top leader Partha Chatterjee Saturday said he had failed to get in touch with his party supremo and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee after getting arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the teacher recruitment scam.

Chatterjee, who was arrested from Naktala in the morning, headed to ESI Hospital in Joka.

While coming out of the hospital, the TMC leader said, "I had tried to contact her (Mamata Banerjee) but failed."

Meanwhile, the TMC has already distanced itself from the cash recovered from the residence of Chatterjee's aide Arpita Mukherjee, who has been detained by the ED.

TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh tweeted in Bengali, "The party has no connection with the cash recovered by the ED. Only the accused and their advocates are responsible to reply to the questions raised in this case.

"The party is closely monitoring why its name has been used in the campaign. It will respond at an appropriate time."
