New Delhi: Indian PM Narendra Modi has wished US President Joe Biden, who has tested COVID-19 positive, a speedy recovery.

"My best wishes to @POTUS @JoeBiden for a quick recovery from COVID-19, and prayers for his good health," Modi tweeted.

Joe Biden has tested positive for Covid-19, the White House announced Thursday.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement that Biden, who tested positive on Thursday morning is "experiencing very mild symptoms" and "has begun taking Paxlovid."

Consistent with CDC guidelines, he will isolate at the White House and continue carrying out all of his duties fully during that time, the statement said.

He has been in contact with the White House staff members by phone this morning, and will participate in his planned meetings at the White House this morning via phone and Zoom from the residence, the statement added.

The 79-year-old is fully vaccinated and will continue to work in isolation until he tests negative.
