India slams Islamic nations' organisation for 'unacceptable' comments on Yasin Malik case

New Delhi/UNI: India Friday slammed the comments by the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation criticising the judgement in the Yasin Malik case, and said through its comments the OIC-IPHRC has implicitly expressed support for the terrorist activities of the Kashmiri separatist leader.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi, in a statement, said the world seeks zero tolerance of terrorism and urged the OIC not to justify it in any manner.

The statement read, "India finds unacceptable the comments made by OIC-IPHRC today criticising India for the judgement in the case of Yasin Malik.

"Through these comments, OIC-IPHRC has implicitly expressed support for the terrorist activities of Yasin Malik, which were documented and presented in the Court. The world seeks zero tolerance of terrorism and we urge OIC not to justify it any manner."

The statement was in response to the OIC-IPHRC condemning the “illegal conviction” of Malik “on concocted charges following sham trial in India”.

It said that Malik has been imprisoned "under inhumane conditions which are reflective of systemic Indian bias and persecution of Kashmiri Muslims" in Kashmir.

It termed it a "travesty of Indian justice" system and also "exposed the claims of democracy".

A special court Wednesday sentenced Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik to life imprisonment in a terror funding case.
