Charanjit Singh Channi offers prayer at gurudwara as Punjab votes today

Khara (Punjab)/IBNS: Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Sunday offered prayers at Gurudwara Sri Katalgarh Sahib in Kharar as the Assembly elections in the border state began.

He said his government made all efforts and now it's up to the people to decide who will come to power this time.

Channi is contesting from Chamkaur Sahib and Bhadaur constituencies.

Speaking to the reporters, the Chief Minister said, "I have come to pray for the well-being of everyone and Punjab. The leadership was of the party during the campaign. It'll now be the will of the almighty and people, we've made all efforts."

The ruling Congress party had earlier announced Charanjit Singh Channi as its chief ministerial candidate over the party's Punjab unit supremo Navjot Singh Sidhu.

A total of 2,12,75,066 voters will decide the electoral fate of 1,304 candidates in the Punjab election.

Polling began at 8 AM and will continue till 6 PM and counting of votes would take place on March 10.
