Guwahati/IBNS: Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has said the state government is steadfast in its commitment of providing 1 lakh jobs and 50,000 jobs are already in the process of being filled up.

Saying that rhetoric will not help Assam to progress, the Assam Chief Minister stated that both government and public must join hands to usher in a new work culture to make the state prosperous.

Taking part in the programme of distribution of cheques to the beneficiaries under Assam Micro Finance Institutions Relief Scheme in Nalbari district, Himanta Biswa Sarma said that, under Assam Micro Finance Institutions Relief Scheme, a total of 26,830 Category I beneficiaries, in Nalbari District will receive their cheques.

Continuing to deliver on the state government’s promise of micro-finance loan waiver to women beneficiaries, the Assam Chief Minister has handed over cheques to 5032 Category I (prompt payer) beneficiaries of Nalbari district.

During this phase of the scheme, those borrowers who have been repaying regularly would be benefitted. They will be provided one-time incentive upto Rs 25,000 or outstanding balance, whichever is less. This is an incentive for them to continue maintaining good credit discipline.

At the beginning of the programme, Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma paid tributes to Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar, who passed away today.

Urging all beneficiaries to use these incentives judiciously by engaging in entrepreneurship and productivity, the Assam Chief Minister said that Assam cannot remain dependent on other states for its food product requirements and all sections must strive towards making the state Atma Nirbhar in true sense.

“The state loses a huge chunk of its revenue by importing food products like eggs, fish, poultry, meat etc. and there is a need for making the state self-reliant in all these sectors. Our government has initiated lots of pro-people activities. We are striving to minimise human interaction in governance and that is why, we are implementing Mission Basundhara, Project Sadbhabna etc to deliver swift and efficient public services through online mode,” the Assam Chief Minister said.

He also called out against ‘Sanda’ culture and said that it must end in Assam and nobody should harass the business community to collect donations for observing festivals.

The Assam Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone of drainage facility project in Nalbari, construction of embankment cum road on River Pagladia, Kumar Vaskar Verma Kalakshetra at Nalbari, construction of Bilpar-Narikuchi Road to Barkurkuriya (Goalpara), construction of ICBP Road from No 1 Gohain Kamal Ali from BDT to Allia Ghat and Balitara Outal to Naherbari under RIDF-XXVII of NABARD for 2021-22.

He said the new schemes launched today will turn Nalbari into a modern city by solving the issue of artificial floods, improving road infrastructure and providing recreational avenues to the residents here.

Assam Finance Minister Ajanta Neog, Industry Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, P&RD Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass, MP Queen Oja, MLA Jayanta Malla Barua, Bhupen Boro, GMDA Chairman Narayan Deka, former MLA Ashok Sarma, Education Adviser to Govt of Assam Dr. Nani Gopal Mahanta were also present in programme.
