Terrorism, infiltration dropped in Jammu and Kashmir after 2018, says Centre

New Delhi/UNI: The Central government on Wednesday told the Rajya Sabha that the incidents of infiltration and terrorist attacks have decreased significantly since 2018 in Jammu and Kashmir.

"A total of 200 terrorists incidents took place up to November 2021, whereas 244 incidents were reported in 2020," Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai said in a written reply.

He said in 2018, Jammu and Kashmir had reported 417 terrorist incidents, while 255 were recorded in 2019.

The Minister further informed that 28 infiltration incidents were reported up to October 31 this year, 51 in 2020, 141 in 2017, and 143 in 2018.

He said 32 Jawans of security forces were killed, whereas 19 personnel of Jammu and Kashmir police attained martyrdom during October 2020 - 2021.

From December, 2020 to November, 2021 (up to November 26), 14 terrorists were apprehended and 165 were killed, he added.
