Bhopal/UNI: Madhya Pradesh’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party is leading in Khandwa parliamentary constituency; Prithvipur and Jobat assembly segments while the main opposition Congress increased its lead by a margin exceeding 1,400 votes in Raigaon assembly segment after seven to eight rounds of counting of by-election votes on Tuesday.

In Khandwa, Gyaneshwar Patil (BJP) is ahead of his nearest rival Rajnarayan Singh Purni (Cong) by more than 35,000.

In Jobat, Sulochana Rawat (BJP) is leading by more than 6,000 votes over Mahesh Patel (Cong) and in Prithvipur, Shishupal Singh (BJP) is ahead of Nitendra Singh Rathore (Cong) by a margin exceeding 4,000.

The scene is quite different in Raigaon where Mrs Kalpana Verma (Cong) – who was initially trailing – is now racing ahead of Pratima Bagri (BJP).
