Chandigarh/IBNS: The Haryana government has banned bursting of crackers in 14 districts near Delhi days before India will celebrate Diwali.

Online shopping sites too cannot make any sales of such nature, the state government informed in a notification.

The 14 districts are: Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Faridabad, Gurugram, Jhajjar, Jind, Karnal, Mahendragarh, Nuh, Palwall, Panipat, Rewari, Rohtak and Sonipat.

The rule will also be applicable to cities and towns where the average of ambient air quality during November ( as per last year's data) is of poor and above category, the notification said.

Green crackers will be permitted in cities where the air quality is moderate or below, it added.

Last month, the Delhi government had banned the storage, sale and use of firecrackers in the national capital amid concerns over hazardous air pollution levels.
