Kolkata/IBNS: Former political strategist Prashant Kishor, who played a significant role in catapulting the Trinamool Congress to retain power in West Bengal, is now a voter in Kolkata's Bhabanipur constituency, where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee resides.

"Yes, it is true. He is now a voter in Bhabanipur constituency," a source told India Blooms.

It is now expected Kishor will cast his vote in the Sept 30 Bhabanipur byelections, where Mamata Banerjee is contesting as a TMC candidate.

Though Kishor has formally left the Indian Political Action Committee (IPAC) after the 2021 West Bengal Assembly Election, he still continues to be close to Mamata Banerjee and TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee.

The TMC, which has set its eyes on expanding beyond the eastern state, has extended its contract with the IPAC till 2026 Assembly Elections in West Bengal.

The ruling party of West Bengal roped in Kishor and IPAC after suffering a setback in the hands of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2019 General Elections.

Turning the table in its favour, the TMC, which is spearheaded by Mamata Banerjee, stormed back to power for the third consecutive term winning 213 of 292 seats (provisional).
