NEET will not be postponed: Supreme Court

New Delhi/IBNS: The Supreme Court Monday ruled against the postponing of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) or NEET UG 2021 to a date post the declaration of the CBSE examination results, media reports said.

Rejecting a writ petition seeking the postponement of the entrance test, the top court stated the NEET UG 21 will be held on the scheduled date, Sept 12.

"Over 16 lakh students take NEET. It can't be deferred on a plea of few students," the court said as quoted by NDTV.

"We will not entertain this petition. We do not want uncertainty. Let the exam continue," it added.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) had earlier clarified that the NEET would be held irrespective of the fact that the CBSE examination results would not be declared by then.

"The non-declaration of result will not stop the students from appearing in the exam, and results will only be required during the counselling," the NTA had said as quoted by NDTV.
