New Delhi: Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar spoke to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken over the recent developments in Afghanistan where Taliban has taken control ever since entering Kabul city on Sunday.

S Jaishankar tweeted: "Discussed latest developments in Afghanistan with @SecBlinken . Underlined the urgency of restoring airport operations in Kabul. Deeply appreciate the American efforts underway in this regard."

The Indian government on Tuesday announced the Indian envoy to Kabul and the staff will be shifted to India immediately amid tensions in Afghanistan following the capturing of the nation by Taliban.

MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi tweeted:"In view of the prevailing circumstances, it has been decided that our Ambassador in Kabul and his Indian staff will move to India immediately."

According to reports, Indians have been evacuated from the embassy and Kabul and are currently  flown back to India in a IAF C-17 aircraft.

Indian Air Force C-17 aircraft has taken off from Kabul with more than 120 Indian officials in it. The staff was brought inside the secure areas of the airport safely, late last evening, sources told Times Now.
