Agartala/UNI: The Trinamool Congress is scheduled to observe Khela Hobe Diwas (celebrate the day to play) across Tripura at block level on August 16 next, protesting against the alleged atrocities of ruling BJP on opposition parties and media, which is considered to be the formal beginning in the state.

As many as 12 top leaders of Trinamool congress including MP Dr Santanu Sen, Kakali Ghosh Dastidar, Prasun Banerjee, West Bengal Education Minister Bratya Basu and Law Minister Moloy Ghatak have been camping in Agartala for last two days to make the events successful.

The state administration has not been allowing TMC to hold even small rallies though BJP is almost everyday doing programmes with hundreds of people violating Covid protocol. The police are trying to implicate Trinamool congress leaders and workers in false cases at the behest of ruling BJP and they have been conspiring to spoil Khela Hobe Diwas, alleged TMC local leader Ashis Lal Singha.

“We shall not hold any rally or meeting on the day but we shall have football matches at least one in each of 23 sub-divisions to start the game for winning the political match in upcoming elections including 2023 assembly polls,” Singha said adding that the party has already constitute block-level committee in Tripura and very soon the top leadership will announce state committee and office bearers.

Talking to media, West Bengal Minister Bratya Basu said that the party would take the call for strengthening the base and organisation at booth level by this month and actual game of changing power in Tripura would be taking place in next assembly elections and finally, the party of Modi and Amit Shah will wash away in 2024 general elections.

Denying the allegations of BJP that TMC leaders have been flying from Kolkata to Agartala on daily basis and indulging violence and terror just to secure six percent vote for retaining the all India status, Basu said, “It shows the bankruptcy of BJP and they must know TMC has not come here without proper research. TMC has come to rescue the people of Tripura from such an oppressive government.”

He also alleged that the BJP was misusing the police and administration out of fear of losing power and added, “The TMC leaders and workers are being attacked, their vehicles are being vandalized and false cases are being registered against them but the criminals are being set free. We know one day those anti-social elements will give a reply to the BJP leaders who are today using them against TMC.”

Basu pointed out that the people of West Bengal have rejected Modi and Shah led BJP in just concluded election because of their anti-people policies and vendetta politics. The people of Tripura voted BJP to power in 2018 with a hope of development believing their tall promises but they cheated the people and that’s why thousands of people are everyday joining Trinamool.

The Biplab Kumar Deb government has been constantly creating pressure on media and TV channels have been shut down for telecasting the atrocities on TMC leaders in the police station, alleged TMC MP Kakali Ghosh Dastidar adding, “Police have been targeting media outlets and journalists whoever is writing or broadcasting news against BJP and Biplab Deb government. We shall not allow this thing to happen, as TMC has full faith in the judiciary and administration.”
