New Delhi/IBNS: BJP leader and former Union Minister Babul Supriyo on Monday again clarified that he will be quitting politics though he has decided to continue as Asansol MP.

Days after hinting towards quitting politics as well as Parliament membership, BJP MP Babul Supriyo on Monday evening met party's national president J.P. Nadda in Delhi.

After the hour-long meeting with Nadda, Babul Supriyo told the media that there was no question of changing his decision of quitting politics.

"I will continue as a Member of Lok Sabha as the people of Asansol want me to engage in the development works for the city," Babul Supriyo said.

"But you will no longer meet the politician Babul Supriyo as I am not changing my earlier decision of quitting politics," Supriyo added.

Meanwhile, the Asansol MP on Monday night shared another post on social media where he clarified and explained his stand again.

"My decision to quit politics is irreversible and I quit politics with immediate effect," Supriyo's latest Facebook post read.

Earlier on Saturday (July 31), Babul Supriyo shared a long post on his verified Facebook page hinting at quitting politics, weeks after he was dropped from the cabinet in a major reshuffle in the Modi government that tool place on July 7.

Beginning the post with 'Alvida', Babul Supriyo expressed his desire to quit politics and to continue social works without being tagged with a political party.

Though, Supriyo also clarified that he is not going to join any other political party.

"In last few days, I met Amit Shah and J.P. Nadda several times to inform them about my wish to quit politics, but they had inspired me every time and sent me back," Supriyo added.

Babul Supriyo also hinted that his decision or wish to quit politics was somehow linked with leaving the ministry.

The Asansol MP also indicated that his dissension with the state BJP leaders was another reason behind his decision.
