Arvind Kejriwal promises free electricity up to 300 units if AAP wins in Punjab

Chandigarh/IBNS: In the same model which he followed during Delhi elections in 2020, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday promised uninterrupted power, free electricity up to 300 units and waiver on previous bills if his party captures power in Punjab due to be polled early next year.

"Three big steps will be taken after the AAP forms government in Punjab. I am making three announcements. First, the AAP government in Punjab will give free electricity up to 300 units. Second, all pending bills will be waived off. Third, electricity will be provided 24 hours like we did in Delhi."

Taunting Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, he said, "This is Kejriwal's guarantee and not Captain's promises..." and added, "The AAP government will waive electricity charges up to 300 units immediately after its formation."

Kejriwal, who registered a landslide victory in Delhi decimating the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2020, is for a long time aiming to keep a strong foot in Punjab politics.

In the upcoming elections in Punjab, the AAP will lock horns with the ruling Congress which is already busy in settling the internal disputes.

Though Kejriwal had promised free schemes in the last assembly elections as well, the AAP's electoral journey in Punjab was stopped at 20 seats while the Congress formed the government ousting the BJP-Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) government.

But the political scenario has changed since then as the BJP and SAD have parted their ways while the Congress is suffering an infighting.
