Girl dies, mother injured in mysterious blast in north Kashmir

Baramulla/UNI: A teenage girl was killed and her mother injured in a mysterious blast in the frontier district of Kupwara in north Kashmir on Thursday, official sources said.

They said an explosive device went off in village Sharkoot Vilgamin Amargrh, Handwara, in Kupwara resulting in injuries to a woman identified as Sara Begum (49) and her 19-year-old daughter Gulnaza Banu.

The injured were immediately rushed to a local hospital where Gulnaza was declared brought dead and Sara Begum was referred to Srinagar.

The cause of the blast was being ascertained, police said adding that it has registered a case and started the investigation.
