Murshidabad/WB/IBNS: A CPI-M activist died and two others were seriously injured after a car in the convoy of Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate Jafikul Islam allegedly knocked them down at Sahabajpur area in Murshidabad's Domkal on Wednesday midnight, hours before the eighth and final phase of Bengal assembly polls.

Local villagers alleged that TMC's Domkal candidate Jafikul Islam along with his followers had visited Sahabajpur village at around 11:30 pm. on Wednesday and threatened the electorates not to vote any other party.

When villagers resisted and chased Jafikul Islam, the TMC candidate's convoy escaped from the village after hitting three CPI-M workers.

They were rushed to a local hospital, where one of them, identified as Kader Mondal, was declared dead.

Accused TMC candidate Jafikul Islam denied to speak on the matter.
