Assam government orders to close all educational institutes, hostels in Kamrup (Metro) district for 15 days

Guwahati: The Assam government has closed all educational institutions, hostels in Kamrup (Metro) district for 15 days after over 1000 COVID-19 positive cases detected  in a single day in the district.

In an order issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (Metro) district stated that – “As active COVID-19 cases have crossed the 1000 mark on a particular day in Kamrup Metropolitan district, all the educational institutions (government and non-government) including colleges, universities, coaching institutes and all category of student’s hostel are hereby declared closed w.e.f. 27th April, 2021 to 11th May, 2021.”

The order said that, online classes have to be made available for the concerned students.

Assam on Monday had reported 3137 new COVID-19 positive cases with 4.29 percent positivity rate and out of the total cases 1153 cases were detected alone in Kamrup (Metro) district.
