Trinamool Congress rules out Mamata Banerjee contesting from another seat

Kolkata/UNI: The ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Thursday ruled out Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee contesting from another seat.

"The question of Mamata Banerjee fighting from any other seat does not arise. She is winning Nandigram comfortably," the party sources said.

Meanwhile, the chief minister alleged that Union Home Minister Amit Shah himself is instructing CRPF, BSF and other jawans to help only BJP and its goons.

“I apologise to my voters on behalf of the Election Commission for their silence. We have given so many letters but they are one-sidedly supporting BJP candidates,” Banerjee said.

“Whatever you (Election Commission) try, BJP will not win. In Nandigram, 90% of the votes will to TMC,” the chief minister said.

The TMC supremo questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's campaigns in West Bengal amidst the second phase of polling on Thursday saying it is a violation of the model code of conduct.

"Why Narendra Modi comes to Bengal on every polling day? Why will he campaign on election day? If we cannot campaign in election areas then why he addresses the people with all facilities including Doordarshan on polling day?"  Banerjee questioned.

“Is it not a violation of the model code of conduct?" she raised these questions while talking to media persons.

The TMC supremo’s remark came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi held rallies in Jaynagar and Uluberia on Thursday.

Earlier the Prime Minister while addressing a public rally in Uluberia said, "What happened in Nandigram some time ago, we all saw that Mamata Banerjee has given up. The nomination date for the last phase of voting still remains. Is it true that you (Mamata Banerjee) are going to quietly file nomination from one seat?”
