Kolkata/IBNS: A Trinamool Congress (TMC) activist was killed and at least 10 others were injured as the workers of ruling TMC and Sanjukta Morcha, comprising of Left parties, Congress and Indian Secular Front (ISF), clashed in Baruipur in South 24 Parganas district of poll-bound West Bengal on Wednesday late night, reports said on Thursday.

According to reports, the deceased has been identified as local TMC worker Ruhul Ali Midde.

Local leaders of the Sanjukta Morcha claimed that five of their activists had been seriously hurt in the tussle while three more had gone untraceable since the clash erupted.

Following the incident, a heavy police force along with Rapid Action Force (RAF) and Central paramilitary forces rushed to the scene and brought the situation under control.

Local police have initiated probe into the matter and held at least seven persons in connection with the deadly clash.
