Kolkata/IBNS: Weeks ahead of the West Bengal assembly election, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday summoned state minister and Trinamool Congress (AITC/TMC)'s secretary-general, Partha Chatterjee, in connection with ICore chit fund scam while former Bengal minister Madan Mitra on the same day received a notice from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Saradha ponzi fund case, sources said.

According to sources in the Central probe agencies, Partha Chatterjee has been asked to appear before the investigators next week while the ED has summoned Madan Mitra on Mar 18 at its Salt Lake office.

When Partha Chatterjee was asked about the CBI summon, he said that he had not received any notice from any probe agency yet.

No reaction has been received from Madan Mitra so far.

Earlier in 2014, Madan Mitra was arrested by the CBI in Saradha chit fund case and he was granted bail in 2016.

Madan Mitra and Partha Chatterjee are contesting from Kamarhati and Behala Paschim (West) assembly seats in the forthcoming election.

Meanwhile, the ED on Friday interrogated TMC MLA Samir Chakraborty for hours in connection with its ongoing probe into Saradha chit fund scam while TMC spokesperson, Kunal Ghosh, was quizzed twice by the Central agency last week in the same case.
