Kolkata/IBNS: West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Wednesday arrested a Bangladeshi national allegedly involved in Nimtita railway station blast in Murshidabad that left at least 26 people, including state minister Jakir Hossain, seriously injured,, sources said.

According to sources in the CID, Bangladeshi national Sheikh Nasim, who hawks fruits outside Nimtita railway station, has been nabbed from the area after the investigators, on CCTV footage, identified his suspicious movements at the explosion point few days before the incident.

CID sleuths are currently interrogating the suspect to find if he has any link with the terror groups, officials said.

CID sources said that the state probe agency would hold a presser soon to officially announce the development.

Earlier on Feb 17 night, Bengal Minister of State for Labour, Jakir Hossain, and several of his followers were seriously injured as a bomb went off on the platform of Nimtita railway station when the minister was going to catch a train to Kolkata.

Jakir Hossain is currently undergoing treatment at SSKM hospital in Kolkata in a stable condition.

Besides the CID, a state constituted Special Investigation Team (SIT) is probing the matter while the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is also monitoring the developments, reports said.
