Indian govt proposes formation of a Committee to deliberate on farmers issues: Sources

New Delhi/UNI: The government on Wednesday proposed striking farmers formation of a committee to deliberate on their demands and said a middle path would have to be decided to resolve the imbroglio.

Although officially nothing was disclosed, sources said the government told the farmers’ leaders during the sixth round of talks that a ‘’middle path’’ would have to decided and a committee could be formed to deliberate on their demands regarding the three farm laws.

The government had earlier this month also proposed formation of a committee. The proposal was rejected by the farmers.

Even before the talks had begun, farmers’ leaders had stuck to their demand of the repeal of the three laws and asserted that nothing less was acceptable to them.

Defence Minister Minister Rajnath Singh said such matters were never decided by ‘’yes or no.’’ ‘’Making or repealing laws is a lengthy process. Such matters cannot be decided by yes or no.’’

He hoped that the farmers would see reason and end their protest which completes 35th day.

Earlier in the afternoon the farmers who had ‘langar’ from Gurudwara, were joined by Union Ministers Piyush Goyal and Narendra Singh Tomar for the lunch.
