New Delhi/UNI: In view of controlling the Novel Coronavirus pandemic in the capital during the first phase, vaccination will be given to 51 lakh people and 1.2 crore vaccines will be required for the same, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Thursday.

Kejriwal further said that Delhi government has already done preparations for the vaccination of Delhiites.

He said three sections will be given priority for the vaccination, which will include three lakh health service workers, six lakh police, civil, defence and frontline workers, apart from those aged above 50.

Everyone will be given two doses of the vaccine, the Delhi Chief Minister said, adding that the capacity of the government was to store 74 lakh vaccines.

However, in the coming 15 days, the capacity will be stepped up to store more than 1.15 crore vaccines.

Those registered will be given the vaccine first and the information regarding where the vaccination will have to be done will be provided through SMS.

Meanwhile, the disease had come under control in the city to a great extent. However, more than 10,000 lives have been claimed by the pandemic here, so far.
