Assam Many organizations plan to resume anti-CAA protests in Assam
Guwahati: Various organizations of Assam have planned to resume anti Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), 2019 stir in the state from Dec 24.
Chatra Mukti Sangram Samiti - students’ wing of Assam’s farmers’ organization Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) has already announced to resume its anti-CAA protest across the state from Dec 24.
The organization will launch its anti-CAA protests in Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Golaghat and other parts of the state.
A leader of Chatra Mukti Sangram Samiti said the people of Assam and North East India were opposed the anti-national act, but the BJP-led Union government had passed it in parliament last year.
“We can’t accept this act which will destroy our language, culture and it will bring big threat to the identity of our indigenous people. We will continue our protest until it is not scrapped,” the leader of Chatra Mukti Sangram Samiti said.
Five youths were killed and many others injured during the violent protest against CAA in Assam last year.
Apart from Chatra Mukti Sangram Samiti, few other organizations have also planned to resume anti-CAA protest in the state by end of this year.
