Navy's senior-most submariner Vice-Admiral Srikant dies of Covid-19

New Delhi/UNI: The Indian Navy's senior-most submariner, Vice Admiral Srikant, died on Tuesday after suffering from the deadly novel coronavirus infection.

Vice Admiral Srikant was the senior-most officer of the Navy's submarine wing and was scheduled to attain superannuation on Dec 31.

He was also the Director-General of the Navy's Project Seabird.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh condoling Vice Admiral's death said, ''Deeply pained at the untimely and sudden demise of DG Seabird, Vice Admiral Srikant. The MoD and the Indian Navy will always remember his stellar contributions and remarkable service to the nation. My deepest condolences to his bereaved family and friends. Om Shanti!''
