'Shehla Rashid gets fund from foreign agencies': Activist's father makes sensational claim

Jammu/IBNS: Student activist Shehla Rashid's father Abdul Rashid Shora made a sensational claim that her daughter was used to get funds from foreign agencies in alleged anti-India activities.

In a recent statement, Abdul said, "Why would she get funds from India for anti-India activities? She used to get funds from foreign agencies..."

"The anti-India slogans even in JNU are all funded. What was the need for Shehla to give a lecture in the JNU," he said.

Abdul also alleged that he and his daughter were offered Rs. three crores by a Kashmiri businessman.

"I had refused to take the money," said Shehla's father, who was restrained by a Srinagar court in October from entering his house after he was named in a domestic violence complaint by his family members.

Rejecting all the claims made by her father, Shehla tweeted, "Many of you must have come across a video of my biological father making wild allegations against me and my mum & sis. To keep it short and straight, he's a wife-beater and an abusive, depraved man. We finally decided to act against him, and this stunt is a reaction to that."

Shehla, a former Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) vice president, rose to prominence after demanding the release of student leaders Kanhaiya Kumar and Umar Khalid and others, who were arrested over sedition charges in 2016.

She had a political stint in Jammu and Kashmir People's Movement founded by bureaucrat from Kashmir, Shah Faesal.

In February 2019, Dehradun Police had filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Shehla for allegedly spreading rumors about 15-20 girls trapped in a girls' hostel for hours.

In the same year, the activist had alleged the Army was torturing Kashmiris as a consequence of the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A by the Narendra Modi government.
